Movie star chef Russell Norman's reason for dying has been confirmed after he died on November 23 at the age of 57.

The BBC star – who appeared on Saturday Kitchen – died from suicide by hanging, an inquest has heard.

Norman was rushed to hospital on November 18 after being discovered in the garden of his house in Kent.

His girlfriend and medical employees attempted to do CPR on him, however he died five days later surrounded by his household and pals.

He suffered severe mind injury.

The inquest was held at Oakwood Home in Maidstone on Friday (February 10).

In a press release learn by Coroner Katrina Hepburn, Dr Genevieve Verdigel, an artwork historian, advised how she discovered Norman mendacity unconscious within the garden.

'When all is claimed and achieved, what you come to understand are crucial words are people who remain, and can stay, a conversation between two individuals and to which the rest of the world won't ever be privy.

'And, at the finish of the day, is that not crucial thing concerning the spoken phrase… it may possibly never be emulated nor replicated. It's a moment in time. And once it is gone it is gone. Like a candle, eradicated in a puff of smoke. Yet the smoking tendrils remain.'

Norman's demise was initially announced with a press release.

Richard Beatty confirmed late last yr: 'It is with the best unhappiness I announce the loss of my greatest pal Russell Norman.

'After a brief battle in hospital, he died surrounded by household and associates.

'Russell is survived by his spouse and three youngsters, and I ask that you simply respect the privacy of his household, buddies, and colleagues presently.'

Following Norman's sudden demise, social media was flooded with tributes from admirers of his work and TV co-stars.

Former Saturday Kitchen host James Martin hailed him as a 'big' of the restaurant world.

Restaurant critic Jay Rayner described the late star as 'some of the gifted of restaurateurs'.

'So sorry to listen to of the demise, far too younger, of Russell Norman,' he shared.

'He was probably the most gifted of restaurateurs, a terrific writer and an terrible lot of enjoyable to be round.

'He very much lived life his personal method. My ideas are together with his family and pals.'

The beloved chef died just weeks after his fourth cookbook was revealed.

He rose to prominence in 2012 when he gained an award for his first cookbook, Polpo: A Venetian Cookbook (of Types).
