After years of competition with Oasis, Blur's Dave Rowntree swapped his purpose in the direction of the Conservative Celebration as he launched his Common Election bid.

The drummer for 90s pop sensations Blur actually does assume 'trendy life is garbage' as he announced plans to run as a Labour candidate after years within the celebration.

Dave, 59, hopes to grab victory from the Tories who've traditionally held the Mid Sussex seat in a shakeup of the constituency.

'I'm delighted to have the opportunity to turn out to be Labour's first Mid Sussex MP,' the Britpop icon shared in a press release on the eve of the brand new budget.

The constituency consists of Burgess Hill and the Mid Sussex villages, dropping some towns as a brand new seat of East Grinstead and Uckfield was created, where incumbent MP Mims Davies plans to stand.

He continued: 'Residents have their greatest probability in a era to make their vote rely and return a Labour MP to parliament. The Tories have run out of concepts, and the Lib Dems have run out of steam.

'I'm operating for parliament to offer the power and imaginative and prescient the world so desperately needs.'

Displaying help for the drummer, Mid Sussex Labour group tweeted: 'We expect Dave will probably be a superb and very profitable candidate.'

Not afraid to ruffle some parliamentary feathers, Dave slammed Wednesday's budget announcement on X, dismissing it as 'the weirdest price range ever'.

'A bunch of minor policy announcements. Is there a flourish on the end?' asked Dave to his 61,500 followers on the social media platform.

The musician added: 'What a waste of an hour. Tiny policy announcements. Twiddling with the tax system. Bogus productivity financial savings fairly than correct funding. AI fixing all problems.'

He advised The Mirror: 'I was an armchair member, saying "anyone should do something!" Progressively it dawned on me that the any person who should do something was me.'

While he may be paving his own method as a politician, Dave was one of the four founding members of Blur alongside Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, and Alex James.

The band reunited in July 2023 after 15 years apart to headline Wembley before releasing their ninth studio album and acting at a variety of festivals.

After this shock comeback, Blur appeared to be happening one other hiatus but will perform at US pageant Coachella later this yr.

Dave isn't the only artist who has turned to politics, as last month singer Will Young said: 'I had a second yesterday or the day before and I used to be like, I'd grow to be an MP. Truthfully, I had a moment – "My God, I might turn out to be an MP."'
