Around the town of Chamonix in the early morning, bakers and delis are opening their doors and letting the smells of freshly baked breads and pastries fill the streets. It truly is a treat for all. The workers at these stores present all passers-by with a friendly smile and a 'bonjour', knowing that over the next few hours, these cul-de-sacs will slowly fill up with spectators and support teams to greet the first finishers of the PTL – a 300kilometre race which started on Monday.
