Novak Djokovic will not defend his US Open title, shockingly bowing out of the tournament in a third round defeat to Alexei Popyrin in four sets, 6-4 6-4 2-6 6-4. Popyrin, the No. 28 player in the world, had lost all three previous matchups to Djokovic, but overpowered him for most of Friday night's clash at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Popyrin advances to the Round of 16 where he will face American foe Frances Tiafoe, who defeated Ben Shelton earlier on Friday in a rematch from last year's quarterfinals.
