The Great North Run is due to set yet another world record for a mass participation half-marathon when it sets off from Newcastle city centre on Sunday morning. Race founder and British athletics icon Sir Brendan Foster said that 60,000 runners will begin the run, a new high fuelled by healthier lifestyles in the under-30s and boosted by the exploits of women's 800m gold medal winner, Keely Hodgkinson, at the Olympic Games last month.
