Trevor Whymark dead at 74: Former Ipswich striker tragically passes away after battle with Alzheimer's - as fans pay tribute to the 'brilliant striker and lovely man'
Former Ipswich and England striker Trevor Whymark has tragically passed away at the age of 74. Whymark, who is a legend at Portman Road after scoring 104 goals in 335 appearances for the club, has been battling Alzheimer's disease over recent years after he was diagnosed in late 2019. Whymark also represented the likes of Grimsby Town, Southend, Colchester, Vancouver Whitecaps and Peterborough during his illustrious career. However, the former striker is best known for his 10-year spell at Ipswich from 1969 to 1979 where he played under Sir Bobby Robson during one of the club's most successful eras.
