Former England captain Steph Houghton has revealed her husband has undergone a 'life-changing' procedure due to his condition deteriorating amid his ongoing battle with motor neurone disease (MND). Stephen Darby, who came through Liverpool's academy before going on to play for five other football clubs, was forced to retire from the game in September 2018 after being diagnosed with the rare condition. Houghton and Darby, both 36, had tied the knot earlier that year in June - just three months before their new life together was shattered by the devastating diagnosis.
