Brydon Carse is set to miss England's second Champions Trophy match against Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium amid fears injury will rule him out of the tournament. Durham fast bowler Carse emerged as major doubt for Wednesday's must-win Group B fixture after being a notable absentee at today's training session at the Pakistan Cricket Board's national academy adjacent to the venue where England lost to Australia on Saturday. The 29-year-old was only passed fit for that opening match at the last minute after spending a week on the sidelines with a toe injury during the final week of the recent tour of India and is understood to have been in serious discomfort while bowling.
