St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt has backed the AFL's proposals to toughen up their illicit drug use rules and claiming the league's current policy 'clearly needs more rigour.' It was revealed earlier this week that the league were looking to take a firmer stance on the use of illegal substances by its players by introducing a new set of proposals that could see players cop hefty fines. As revealed by Caroline Wilson of The Age, the AFL wants to implement 'full-scale and year-round hair testing programmes'.
