Jerry O'Connell details his experience with an alleged repeat "yoga bandit" believed to be targeting studios in the Los Angeles area
"I went to the police station, and it turns out she'd gone to the yoga studio to case it a few times, and to other studios," he tells PEOPLE
The actor also says that some irreplaceable items, including a high school photo of a loved one, were inside his stolen wallet
Jerry O'Connell is sharing his story after his wallet and cell phone were stolen during a yoga class last week.
The Pictionary game show host, 51, had his belongings pilfered while participating in a workout session at a Los Angeles-area yoga studio on Friday, Sept. 5, he tells PEOPLE.
NBC4 first reported the incident on Monday, Sept. 8, citing the Los Angeles Police Department. LAPD confirms to PEOPLE that the theft did take place.
In sharing his encounter with the person he now deems the "yoga bandit," O'Connell shares that he regularly does yoga with his wife Rebecca Romijn, because "it keeps my butt flexible and it's a fun thing to do with your spouse," he says. "But what happened that day wasn't very namasté."

A woman whose identity has not yet been publicly revealed came into the business that morning asking if she could use the restroom, per NBC4. O'Connell says he later learned she feigned being late to the class.
Once the class was over, the Jerry Maguire actor noticed his belongings, which included a few hundred dollars in cash, were missing from the place he usually keeps them.
"I wear the same pair of dirty old sneakers to yoga class and before class, I took them off and slipped my wallet and phone into the dirty shoes. I've done that over 100 times — I know this because my app says I've taken 107 classes," he tells PEOPLE.
O'Connell says "it made no sense" that his phone and wallet were missing "since the door is locked."
"I told the guy at the desk in a hushed tone since I was still feeling the zen, and if there's a place where no one is going to freak out it's a yoga studio," he says.
According to the actor, the attendant at the front desk was baffled as he'd "been sitting three feet away the whole time."
"And [he said] the only person who came in was late and said she'd come back for a later class," O'Connell tells PEOPLE, adding that they checked the yoga studio's cameras next.
"We check the feed and we see her," he says of the "slick yoga bandit," before giving a description. "She has pigtails, wearing yoga clothes, carrying a yoga mat and is wearing a yoga arm sleeve."

O'Connell continues, "You can see her saying, 'Oh shucks, I'm late for class,' and she bends down next to my dirty shoes and pulls out my wallet and phone, and leaves."
The Scream 2 actor tells PEOPLE he was able to cancel his credit cards, but not before some damage was done, including "almost $500 at a department store and 100 bucks at the gas station."
He credits American Express for their quick handling of the situation, telling PEOPLE, "I'm not charged and already have my new card."
The unidentified woman reportedly has a repeated history when it comes to yoga studio thefts.
"I went to the police station, and it turns out she'd gone to the yoga studio to case it a few times, and to other studios," he tells PEOPLE.
However, there were some irreplaceable items inside his wallet.
"The only real bummer is that I had a photo of Rebecca from high school in my wallet, a four-leaf clover Jack McBrayer had given me, a $2 bill I got while shooting Stand By Me, and my grandfather Charles Witkowski's obituary," O'Connell tells PEOPLE.
He also says he kept his Powerball tickets in his wallet.
"So if Gus's Liquor hits the jackpot, it could be the yoga bandit," he quips, adding, "What are the rules about that? Is it my ticket or the yoga bandits' ticket?"
"By the way, I have an Android, so good luck selling that. And Find My Android doesn't work," O'Connell says.

The Talk alum adds that, despite the theft, he has no hard feelings, and it has not deterred him from getting his workouts in.
"I was back today and took a class," an upbeat O'Connell says. "Shout out to Zack, my yoga teacher — I can touch my toes because of him, so all things ended well."
LAPD tells PEOPLE there is a person they suspect to be involved, but no one is in custody at this time. The suspect was seen on surveillance video on two different days last week, and is believed to have been committing similar thefts at yoga studios across Los Angeles, police said.
