Serena Williams has been keeping a close eye on her older sis these days — but all in good fun.
The retired tennis star, 43, watched Venus Williams compete in the women's doubles draw with Leylah Fernandez at the U.S. Open over the holiday weekend. Added to that, Serena took to social media to share a cheeky reaction to seeing Venus, 45, kicking butt with her new partner, as E! reported.
In TikTok video posted on Sunday, Aug, 31, Serena recorded a clip of her TV showing Venus and Fernandez, 22, at their recent match. Then, Serena whips the camera onto herself and playfully rolls her eyes. In the silly, self-aware moment, she forces a smile while her eyes dart back and forth.
The caption of her comical video reads, "When you see your sister @Venus Williams has a new doubles partner @leylahanniefernandez and you are really happy she's winning with someone else."
Fans of the Williams sisters can confirm the TikTok post is all in good fun since Serena — who retired from tennis in 2022 — has been vocal in supporting Venus while she competes in the sport in general. On Aug. 26, Serena paid a heartfelt tribute on social media after Venus lost to Karolína Muchová in the women's singles.
"Strength, courage, determination, class, perseverance, inspiration… there's not enough words to describe how proud I am of you @VenusWilliams," she wrote in the Instagram post. "P.S. I hope to be like you."
Serena even shared some sweet marriage advice for her older sister recently, amid Venus' engagement with fiancé Andrea Preti.
"My advice is to always have fun, to always go on dates, to take a moment and just, like, dance," Serena said during the Aug. 21 episode of Today. "Let your guard down and just let you feel vulnerable. I'm no expert. I definitely am not perfect."
