"Spooky Season" will go on at Wendy's without Boo! Bags this year.
The American fast-food chain confirmed to USA TODAY on Sept. 22 that while the Halloween-themed bundle meal will not be back, its Frosty Frights Kids' Meals and Boo! Books were made available for purchase in early September.
"Get ready for a frightfully fun fall..." Wendy's said in a news release. "Wendy's Boo! Books are back and Frosty Frights Kids' Meal are returning for 2025, bringing spooky treats and smiles to families across the U.S."
Launched in September 2024, Wendy's Frosty Frights Kids' Meal inclues an entrée, side, drink and a collectible figurine inspired by the "iconic Frosty treat."
Boo! Books, another "Spooky Season" offering at Wendy's, can also be purchased for $1. As a bonus, proceeds from each Halloween-themed coupon book sold will go to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a charity that helps more children get adopted out of foster care.
Wendy's "Spooky Season" offerings are available now for a limited time. Here's what to know about the Frosty Frights Kids' Meal, including how to get one.
Are Wendy's Boo! Bags coming back?
No. At least not this Spooky Season.
What's in a Wendy's Frosty Frights Kids' Meal?
In place of fan-favorite Boo! Bags, Wendy's will be offering a Frosty Frights' Kids Meal and Boo! Books this Spooky Season.
Frosty Frights Kids' Meals, available now for a limited time, come with your choice of either 4-piece chicken nuggets, a hamburger, or cheeseburger, a side of either fries or apple slices, as well as a kids' drink and one of 12 toys inspired by the famous soft-serve dessert.
"With spooky-fun characters like The Yummy, Chilly Gilly, Ice Patch, Captain Coldsnap, Meltin and Purrrma Frost – fans can collect up to 12 toy characters, including 6 special, "bright fright variants!" according to Wendy's.
The fun doesn't stop there, with Wendy's offering customers the ability to take a quiz to find out which Frosty Frights character you most resemble, or see all of the "Frosty Frights" characters in this year's Boo! Books.
Traditionally, the day gives children and adults alike the opportunity to transform into someone or something else. Trick-or-treaters and other participants don outfits, wigs and accessories to show off their disguises for the event. According to the Library of Congress, Halloween comes from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, a religious celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer. During the festival, people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Later, in the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated Nov. 1 as All Saints Day, intending to incorporate Samhain festival traditions. The evening before All Saints Day became known as All Hallows Eve, and later, Halloween, per the Library of Congress.
