Last night, Kim Kardashian ditched her signature glam for something slightly less recognizable. Attending the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala, the star stepped out in a look that posed several questions, the first of which was, naturally, could she see?
The event, founded to support the museum's work preserving film history for generations to come, brought the biggest names in Hollywood, music, and fashion together for an evening of celebration and fundraising. From Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner to Selena Gomez and Olivia Rodrigo, the blue carpet was packed with models, founders, and artists alike—all wearing dreamy designer looks straight from the runway or pulled from the depths of their archives.

For Kardashian, this meant picking out a look from Glenn Martens' Maison Margiela Couture debut—a skintight nude number that felt Skims-adjacent even to the businesswoman herself. Her long strapless gown was designed with an inverted V-waistline, built-in bra cup wiring, and glove-like half sleeves. She paired the look with a statement choker made from diamonds and emeralds, matching rings, and, of course, the mask.
This wasn't Kardashian's first time wearing a face covering as such; back in 2021, her Balenciaga Met Gala look included a couture gown and matching mask. But this time, it seemed to have been a last minute addition—as she revealed on the carpet that the accessory did not actually stop her from getting her hair and makeup done beforehand, as one might think.
