NFL teams have increasingly coveted high-quality receivers as the league has skewed more pass-heavy in recent seasons. Could any big-name players at the position be on the move ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline?

The answer to that question depends on how you view the position. If you're hoping a blockbuster occurs and someone like A.J. Brown or Brian Thomas Jr. is dealt, you're probably out of luck. Reports indicate the Eagles aren't willing to part with Brown while Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen has stated his team is not planning to move on from Thomas.

But if players like Jakobi Meyers or Rashid Shaheed get your blood pumping, you may be in luck. Those two veterans are among the most likely wide-outs to be on the move ahead of the deadline, while a couple of other talented, young receivers will at least hear their names mentioned in trade rumors.

Where could these receivers end up if traded? Here's a look at the best fits for the most notable wide-outs who could be moved ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

Jakobi Meyers: Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers receiver DK Metcalf has a team-high 27 catches thus far in 2025. The rest of the wide receivers to suit up for Pittsburgh this season have combined for 25, making finding a true, No. 2 receiver for Aaron Rodgers a priority.

Meyers would be an ideal fit for the Steelers. The 6-2, 193-pound wide-out is a strong route runner with sure hands and good physicality who can play both in the slot and on the outside. He would provide a nice foil to the hyper-athletic Metcalf while allowing smaller-sized speedsters Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson to work as field-stretching No. 3 receivers, which will better suit their skill sets.

Jaylen Waddle, New York Giants

The Giants are expected to be "aggressive" in searching for upgrades to their receiving corps after losing Malik Nabers to a torn ACL, per SNY's Connor Hughes. Chasing after a player like Waddle would qualify.

Waddle, 26, has often operated as the Miami Dolphins' No. 2 receiver across from Tyreek Hill. However, the 5-10, 185-pound Alabama product generated at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons and is pacing to surpass the mark in 2025 after a down 2024 season.

Waddle has great deep speed, and pairing him long-term with Malik Nabers would give Jaxson Dart a top-tier one-two punch at receiver beginning in the 2026 NFL season. That would also protect the Giants in case they lose pending free agent Wan'Dale Robinson during the offseason, as Waddle is under contract through the 2028 campaign.

Chris Olave: New England Patriots

Drake Maye is coming along nicely in his second season with the Patriots. He leads the NFL in passer rating entering Week 9 and has gotten the most out of a receiving corps headlined by Stefon Diggs and Kayshon Boutte.

Still, the Patriots could use a long-term No. 1 receiver for their offense. The Saints may not ultimately part with Olave, but if they do, the 25-year-old would be a great long-term partner for Maye. New England could easily absorb his $15.5 million fifth-year option for 2026 before giving him a lucrative, long-term extension.

Olave is on pace for a 1,000-yard season despite playing mostly with Spencer Rattler, who ranks 23rd among 33 qualified quarterbacks in passer rating (86.8). It's fun to imagine what the 2022 first-round pick could do in a better offense.

Rashid Shaheed: Denver Broncos

Shaheed may be the more likely of New Orleans' starting receivers to be traded ahead of the deadline. The 27-year-old is set to be a free agent after the season, so if the Saints don't view the downfield threat as a part of their future, they may be happy to get whatever they can in exchange for his services.

The Broncos have gotten a lot out of their receiving corps this season, as Troy Franklin has emerged as a solid complement to Courtland Sutton. Still, they could use a more consistent deep threat with Marvin Mims Jr. having an up-and-down campaign. Shaheed could provide that, either as a starter across from Sutton or in rotation with the likes of Mims and Pat Bryant as the team's No. 3 receiver.

Shaheed never overlapped with Sean Payton in New Orleans, but he played in Pete Carmichael Jr.'s offense for two seasons with the Saints. Carmichael is now a senior offensive assistant with the Broncos.

Calvin Ridley: Buffalo Bills

Ridley hasn't done a lot during the 2025 NFL season while battling a hamstring injury and playing for a struggling Tennessee Titans offense. Still, the 30-year-old veteran has posted 1,000-yard seasons for three different teams during his career and should still be a quality starter when healthy.

Josh Allen has gotten a lot out of the Bills' receiving corps since the departure of Stefon Diggs, but adding a high-caliber outside starter could make his job a bit easier. Taking on the remaining $40.98 million of base salary owed to Ridley in 2026 and 2027 would constitute a risk, but it's one the Bills could be willing to take to upgrade the No. 1 receiver position on their roster.

Brandin Cooks: Los Angeles Rams

Look, our goal isn't to trade all the receivers on the Saints roster as part of this exercise. The team has a few intriguing options, and wide-out-needy teams could come calling.

Cooks is a good example of a quality role player who could be moved. The 32-year-old isn't the big-time playmaker he once was, but he can still get open effectively within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, where 12 of his 17 catches have come. That makes him an ideal target for playoff teams in need of experienced depth at receiver, like the Rams.

Los Angeles recently placed Tutu Atwell on IR, leaving Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield and Xavier Smith as the top options behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Sean McVay could be content to roll with that unit, but he could also bring back an old friend like Cooks to shore up the back end of their depth chart.
