Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, has only been live for a day, and it's already smashing records. Not only did she already beat the record she set in 2024 for most vinyl copies sold in the first week (in just one day!) but she's on track to take a sales record that Adele's held since 2015!

On just its release day, Oct. 3, 2025, The Life of a Showgirl sold a whopping 2.7 million copies of physical and digital versions of the album, according to initial reports from Luminate, as reported by Billboard. Compare that to Adele's long-held record for first-week album sales from her hit album 25, which sold 3.378 million copies in 2015. Swift still has almost a week to make up the ~600,000 copy difference.

Additionally, on Oct. 4, Swift took to Instagram to announce acoustic versions of some of the Life of a Showgirl songs, available only inside full album purchases for a limited time. "My favorite moments from the tour were the acoustic surprises," she wrote. "So I went back into the studio with Max [Martin] and Shellback to record acoustic/unplugged versions of a few of the Showgirl songs with brand new vocals and production!"

Swift added that "Four limited CD releases, each including two acoustic bonus tracks" were available on her website for 24 hours or until they sell out. Songs getting the unplugged treatment include:

"Opalite (Life Is A Song Acoustic Version)"

"Ruin the Friendship (My Advice Version)""Wi$h Li$t (Settled Down Acoustic Version)"

"The Life of a Showgirl (Dressing Room Rehearsal Acoustic Version)"

"The Fate of Ophelia (Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version)"

"Eldest Daughter (Now You're Home Acoustic Version)"

"Elizabeth Taylor (So Glamorous Cabaret Version)"

"Elizabeth Taylor (Original Songwriting Voice Memo)"

The new drop will likely continue to increase album sales, even among fans who may have already purchased a regular version of the album, and help ensure that she breaks Adele's week 1 record.

And it'll be far from her only record this week. Already, she's sold 1.2 million vinyl copies of her album, which beat the previous single-week vinyl sales record set by Swift herself with 2024's The Tortures Poets Department, which sold 859,000 copies on vinyl.

Additionally, early projections expect her behind-the-scenes theatrical film event, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, to be No. 1 at the U.S. box office for the week, according to Rolling Stone, despite only being shown in theaters for one weekend.

Swift's song "The Fate Of Ophelia" was at the top of Spotify's Today's Top Hits chart on Oct. 4, having already been streamed more than 30,000,000 times. "Elizabeth Taylor" is close behind, with more than 24,000,000 streams at No. 13. Crazier that that, the top of Apple Music's Daily Chart includes literally every song off the new album (the top 12 spots!) before KPOP Demon Hunter's soundtrack hit "Golden" appears at No. 13.
