Cleveland Browns quarterbackShedeur Sanders' house was reportedly broken intoon Sunday, while Sanders wasmaking his NFL debut.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio first reported the news on Monday, withCleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabotconfirming the report shortly afterwards.
It is unclear whether anything was taken from Sanders' home during the break-in. Reportedly, no potential suspects have been identified.
Sanders took his first pro snaps for the Browns on Sunday, taking over for Dillon Gabriel, who was ruled out with a concussion. TheRavens went on to win the game, 23-16, as Sanders struggled.
Postgame, Sanders was blunt about his performance: "I don't think I played good at all," he told reporters.
Sanders appears to be the latest pro athlete to have his house broken into during a game. Multiple NFL players were targeted by burglars last season, includingKansas City Chiefs starsPatrick Mahomes andTravis Kelce, and Cincinnati Bengalsquarterback Joe Burrow.
Other pro athletes from other leagues were also targeted, including NBA players Bobby Portis and Mike Conley Jr., andPittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin. The situation reached a point thatthe NFL issued a warning to playersabout the string of burglaries, followed bythe NBA issuing a similar warning.
In February, the Justice Departmentcharged a group of seven men, all Chilean nationals, with starting a burglary ring targeting pro athletes. AnNew York City pawn shop owner plead guilty in Julyto being a fence for the break-in on Burrow's home.
However, the break-ins have continued in 2025, with Arizona Diamondbackssecond baseman Ketel Marteand Oklahoma City Thunderstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexanderamong those targeted in the past several months.
