Elizabeth Olsen reveals what it was like working with Miles Teller on the set of Eternity
Teller, who plays Olsen's husband, kept things "fresh and exciting," she told PEOPLE
Eternity follows Joan (Olsen) as she chooses whether to spend eternity with her first love (Callum Turner) or longtime husband (Teller)
One ofElizabeth Olsen's on-screen partners inEternitybrought a particularly "playful" energy to the set of the romantic comedy.
At the New York City premiere of the A24 film, Olsen, 36, told PEOPLE that in contrast to the difficult decision her character Joan faces, whether to spend eternity with first love Luke (Callum Turner) and her longtime husband, Larry (Miles Teller), filming the movie was an easygoing experience — thanks in part to Teller, 38.
When asked about how the on-screen couple — who didn't spend much time together ahead of filming due to Teller's schedule — curated their chemistry, Olsen told PEOPLE that they didn't have to do much thanks to good writing and her costar's "playful energy."
"I think luckily with scripts that work and with actors that come prepared, you're able to just play and be present," the actress told PEOPLE at the premiere on Nov. 8. "I think the script did most of the work. I think with, specifically Joan and Larry's relationship, they've been married for 65 years and you just kind of trust the banter, with the storytelling and that I think gives the illusion of chemistry."

"And then also, he brought such a playful energy to the set," she added of Teller, "and physically was always trying to surprise me, and so I think that also keeps it fresh and exciting."
Factor in costarsDa'Vine Joy RandolphandJohn Early, and it was difficult not to have a good time on set, according to Olsen.
"I mean more than anything, I always just enjoyed what other people were improvising and ended up being, like, end-of-scene zingers," Olsen told PEOPLE. "I think one of our favorite moments as a cast was just us being off-camera while Da'Vine and John Early were just improvising reactions to a fight we were having."
"It was so hard for us to keep a straight face," added theWandaVisionstar. "It was really just a joyful, silly experience getting to make this, and also challenging."

Other members of theEternitycast describe their time the set of the David Freyne-helmed movie as similarly enjoyable.
At the N.Y.C. premiere, star Olga Merediz told PEOPLE that she and Olsen hit it off. "It was like we were like sisters right away," the 69-year-old actress said.
Asked if she connected similarly with a different cast member, Merediz conjured a name almost immediately. "Miles. Miles, it was just so sweet and nice," the actress said, adding that their characters are "supposed to not get along, but he was very, very sweet to me."

Randolph, 39, also had fun on set, especially when all of the cast members were present. When asked what drew her to the project, she told PEOPLE, "I thought it was cool that I got to work with people my age. I tend to work with people that are older than me, which is amazing, but that was a nice change and difference. I always like to switch it up."
Plus, it helped that the cast "all hit it off," the Oscar winner said, adding that "a good casting director needs to know energies and people's vibes" beyond just their work. She also noted that theEternitycasting department, Chelsea Ellis Bloch and Marisol Roncali, "knocked it at the park with that."
"It's nice to work off of everybody's different energies and we all have our own little quirks and stuff like that to tease each other," Randolph said, later adding that "it was just natural. Just clicked."
