Nick Reinerhas been taken into custody on a murder charge following the deaths of his parents,Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.
Rob and Michele were killed in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, Dec. 14. Sources previously told PEOPLE they were found by their daughterRomy.
According to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department records, Nick was taken into custody and is being held on $4 million bail. At an unrelated press conference Monday morning, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said Nick had been booked on a murder charge.
PEOPLE previously reported that Nick was beingquestionedby the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division in the aftermath of his parents' deaths.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it was called to a home to provide medical aid at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Sources subsequently identified the victims as Rob and Michele.

The couple had been married since 1989. They met while Rob was directingWhen Harry Met Sally...,which was released that same year.
Together, they had three children, including Nick, whopreviously has spokenopenly about struggles with addiction and homelessness, beginning in his teens.

The son of legendary comedianCarl Reiner, Rob broke into Hollywood on the legendary sitcomAll in the Family.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner," the Reiner family said in a statement toVariety. "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."
