The young Hollywood heartthrobscored his first Golden Globe awardfor "Marty Supreme," taking best actor in a musical or comedy for the white-knuckle ping-pong movie.
"Wow, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, I'm in a category of many greats," Chalamet said, acknowledging director Josh Safdie and his co-stars, including "Shark Tank" personality Kevin O'Leary. "If you had told me when I was 19 years old that I'd be thanking Mr. Wonderful from 'Shark Tank,'" earning laughter from O'Leary in the crowd.
He also thanked his dad for teaching him to "always be grateful for what you have. For my parents, for my partner [Kylie Jenner], thank you so much."

Chalamet, 30,trounced stiff competition in the category, which included Hollywood royaltyGeorge Clooney("Jay Kelly"), Ethan Hawke ("Blue Moon") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("One Battle After Another").
The actor has often spoken about DiCaprio as a hero of his and someone he looks up to, in terms of his career longevity and impressive range.
"It's a huge honor," Chalamet told USA TODAY of being in the awards conversation with DiCaprio. "His career speaks for itself and his work in 'One Battle' is tremendous."
Chalamet has been on a head-spinning awards run ever since his 2017 breakthrough in "Call Me By Your Name," earning five Globe nominations for an eclectic bunch of movies including "A Complete Unknown," "Beautiful Boy" and "Wonka." He has previously garnered two Oscar nominations and is all but assured to net a third for "Marty Supreme."
Directed and co-written by Josh Safdie, the sprawling sports thriller centers on an aspiring table-tennis star named Marty Mauser (Chalamet) as he chases his dreams of playing in the world championships.
The film, which co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Tyler, the Creator, has steadily become a box-office phenomenon and awards season juggernaut. Last week, it picked upthree Actor Awards nominationsfrom the Screen Actors Guild for best actor, best cast and best supporting actress (Odessa A'zion).

"The more table tennis I watched, the more balletic I realized the movements were and how graceful they could be," Chalamettold USA TODAY last month. His mom, sister and grandmother were all ballerinas, so "I grew up watching lots of ballet and I feel like I incorporated more of my family's dance background into this than I ever have on anything – even on something like 'Wonka,' where I'm dancing.
