While being presented with the array of barbecue meats and classic sides, Trump’s focus quickly shifted to the health ofKansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
During the meeting, Trump asked, “The most important thing, how’s Mahomes doing? Is he OK?” The owner of Slap’s BBQ reassured him, replying, “He’s OK.”
Patrick Mahomes is currently navigating a rehabilitation process after undergoing surgery to repair both his ACL and LCL, injuries he sustained in his left knee during the closing weeks of the 2025 NFL season. Throughout his recovery, Mahomes has remained optimistic, sharing his determination to be ready for the 2026 season kickoff.
"So, do you think he’ll be able to start Game 1?" Trump followed up. The owners expressed optimism, stating they are hopeful the star quarterback will be back in action for the season opener.

Kansas City Chiefshead coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach have bothprovided updateson Mahomes’ status, noting that he is ahead of schedule in his recovery.
