New York Islanders vs Colorado Avalanche descends into wild brawl after Nathan Mackinnon levels rival
The Islanders and Avalanche brawled on Monday night after Colorado's Nathan McKinnon absolutely leveled New York's Alexander Romanov. McKinnon was skating at full speed ahead when Romanov skated backwards into his path, as he looked to be angling for a hip check. However, McKinnon anticipated the contact and lowered his shoulder into his rival, sending Romanov flying and causing his helmet to fly off. The shoulder check was called a 'good, smart, heads-up play' by one of the broadcasters calling the game, but that didn't stop the two teams from scrapping afterwards.
