Alistair Brownlee admitted he had achieved 'far more than I ever dared to imagine' after announcing his retirement from triathlon. The 36-year-old is the only triathlete to ever win back-to-back Olympic gold medals, triumphing in front of his home crowd at London 2012, then defending his title at Rio 2016, with his younger brother Jonny finishing on the podium in both of those races. Brownlee also won two individual world titles, individual Commonwealth Games gold in 2014 and four European titles in a glittering career spanning 18 years.
