Yahoo Sports Staff Updated Mon, October 19, 2026 at 2:05 PM UTC About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Week 6 of the NFL season is very nearly a wrap, with the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers on "Monday Night Football" to close out the slate.
But before that, Monday morning brought some unexpected news, as the Colts announced they fired GM Chris Ballard, who's been in the role since 2017. Indianapolis fell to the Titans on Sunday .
The Kansas City Chiefs remain one of three undefeated teams after beating the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. LA is now the lone team in the league sitting at 0-6 as the seats of Jim Harbaugh and Mike McDaniel heat up.
The Miami Dolphins didn't have a chance to rack up a win while on a bye this week, but the Tennessee Titans sure did, walking away with the team's first win under head coach Robert Saleh on Sunday with a 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts are moving on from general manager Chris Ballard. The team announced Monday that Ballard was relieved from his duties.
In a statement, team owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon said the she felt the change was necessary in order for the team to compete for a championship.
Daniel Jones isn't at risk of losing his starting job just yet. Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen, after the Colts' 26-20 loss to the previously winless Tennessee Titans, confirmed that Jones will remain his starting quarterback moving forward despite his struggles this season.
"I think he knows he's got to play better," Steichen said. "I've gotta coach better. There's a lot of things, it's not on one guy. But we've got to do a lot of things better."
Jones, who made it back in time to start this fall after his Achilles injury late last season, has not played well in recent weeks. He went just 22-of-42 passing for 269 yards with a touchdown and threw two interceptions in Sunday's loss. Despite the Colts dominating the first half offensively — the unit racked up 232 yards while Indianapolis' defense held Tennessee to just 64 yards in the first two quarters — they had to settle for field goals twice despite being in prime position to find the end zone.
Calls for Mike McDaniel's job are only getting louder.
This time, however, Jim Harbaugh wasn't as strong in his defense of his offensive coordinator.
Harbaugh, after the Los Angeles Chargers fell 22-6 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, said that they are going to "have to address everything, and especially, offensively." The loss knocked them to 0-6 on the season, marking their worst start since 2000. Coincidentally, Harbaugh was on that Chargers roster as a quarterback that finished 1-15 that season — including five starts, where he threw for 1,330 yards, 8 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
When asked about McDaniel directly and if he was going to keep calling plays, Harbaugh said they were "going to look at everything."
"The job I'm doing, it starts with me. We'll watch this and get with our offensive coaches," Harbaugh said, via ESPN . "I see the effort, I see the work being put in in the meetings, on the practice field, and to get that to translate to the field is what's necessary. Feel bad for our players, our team, our coaches, our fans. And [offense] needs to be addressed."
The Los Angeles Rams lost wide receiver Davante Adams during the final stretch of their loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday .
Adams, on the Rams' final drive of the contest, suddenly pulled up and started hopping in the back of the end zone. He reached for his left knee as play went the other way, and he eventually limped off the field to the sideline.
Adams did not return to the game. Further specifics of his injury are not yet known.
