Everton are advancing in talks to sign midfielder Orel Mangala from Lyon. The Belgian international spent the latter half of last season on loan at the French side from Nottingham Forest, netting twice in eight Ligue 1 appearances. Lyon exercised a clause in the deal to make the move permanent last month for a fee that could rise to £17m. Having represented Belgium at multiple youth levels, Mangala was handed his senior international debut by Roberto Martinez in 2022 and has since gone on to amass 19 caps for his country.
